The Longines Heritage 1935 for 2014

The Heritage collection of Longines Watches is meant to recreate its famous timepieces from the past, and to present them with the contemporary features that are enabled by the development of the technology. For Basel World 2014, the company has released the Longines Heritage 1935. A tribute to the Classic Czech Air Force Watch

Longines-Heritage-1935-2

The Heritage 1935 is greatly exactly the same. It is extremely faithful towards the original Czech pilot’s watch. There are a few updates, but the Heritage 1935 is very faithful to both the aesthetics and spirit of the original.

Running the Heritage 1935 is definitely an ETA 2895 movement. This can be a fundamental automatic caliber having a 42 hour power reserve and great for a wrist watch such as this. It’s worth observing the original Czech watches were obviously by hand-wound. The caseback is brushed and marked using the model title and every piece’s individual number.

Longines was certainly one of a couple of brands making these on spec in the Czech Air Force, and unquestionably probably the most recognized. The Heritage 1935 has got the same square-cushion case shape because the original, with simply a small size increase to 42mm.

The dial is bold having a deep black ground and enormous luminous Arabic numbers. Outdoors the numbers sits a railroad minutes track and there’s even the same sub-seconds register located on the original at 6 o’clock. There’s however adding a date window instead of the “6” – fortunately it’s sufficiently small it does not disrupt the legibility from the dial. Large cathedral-style hands are full of a lot of Superluminova, so reading through the Heritage 1935 during the night is going to be very easy.

The bezel is identical flutedbezel seen around the original piece, though it doesn’t possess the triangular marker and it is fixed rather than rotating. Although this does get rid of the timing function, it’s little of the reduction in our thoughts. The case is polished on all surfaces and also the edges are sharp and crisp. Just a little brushing will make the watch is a more understated, military-style watch overall.

There are a few updates, but the Heritage 1935 is very faithful to both the aesthetics and spirit of the original. This retro one is really a gorgeous piece.
