Swiss Vacheron Constantin Collection Excellence Platine welcomes a new model for those who appreciate classically understated timepieces. The limited edition Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve embodies the finest horological traditions in every sense.
Vacheron Constantin created its first platinum timepiece in 1820, and has since fashioned its finest timepieces from this precious metal, which is 95% pure, compared with 75% purity for 18k gold.
As a swiss classic watches new member of the Collection Excellence Platine, the Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve offers much more than simply a platinum case. The dial too is crafted from the precious metal, as evidenced by the discreet “PT950” inscription between 4 and 5 o’clock. The dial provides a central display of the hours, minutes and seconds, as well as pointer-type indications of the power reserve, the date and the day of the week.
The dark blue alligator strap is hand-sewn with a unique thread made from silk combined with a fine strand of 950 platinum. Platinum’s remarkable malleability makes this possible. A single gram of the metal can be drawn out to form a thread more than one mile in length. The folding clasp is also made of 950 platinum.
Inside the 39.5 mm case beats a manufacture Caliber 2475 self-winding movement that is developed and produced by Vacheron Constantin. Its fine watchmaking finishes include Côtes de Genève, beveled and rhodiumed bridges, and a circular-grained mainplate. The watch and movement bear the Hallmark of Geneva, an independent certification of origin, craftsmanship, durability and expertise.
